If you can’t string together five minutes of interrupted time, you are limited to do shallow work. There’s nothing wrong with organizing your paperwork or returning emails. When that is ALL we can do, we have a problem.
Even if you don’t do creative work, long-term planning and thoughtful decision-making require space to hold the rest of the world at bay for longer than your phone notifications usually give you.
